Question:
Where can I find an insurance company that will cover 'just me'?
I'm self-employed, so there is no 'job insurance'. I'm looking for a company that will cover only me.... I've been trying to find a way to reach Aetna, or United Health Care, or Cigna because Dr. Fisher in Las Vegas said they cover WLS. Please help with ANY info. When I was self-employed I contacted an insurence broker and told him my
needs and purchased a plan that fit. Also the advise about the chamber is a
good one and If you belong to any professional group Hairdressers, cpa's
you should be able to purchase through them. I say I was self-employed but
I think my circumstances may have been different than yours . I had a
business outside my home with a partner and one employee so we actually
qualified as group coverage under BC/BS.I hope you are able to find
something. By the way my ins. coverage was complete and inexpensive , as
compaired to BC/BS individual coverage. Of course back then (10 yrs ago) I
really did not know of this surgery.

Hi Alyssa. I'm not sure if this will help because I live in the state of
Maryland but I have the numbers for United Healthcare-1-800-368-1680,
Cigna- 1-800-541-7526 and Aetna is 1-800-872-3862 or 1-800-778-7242. Also
call these numbers
and ask for their OPEN Enrollment period for selfemployed people. That's
exactly what I've literally done. Our open enrollment in Md. is now. Until
June 30th. Hurry. email me if I can be of any more help. [email protected]
Good Luck,
Darline
