Question:
How do i get started I dont have insurance or a Dr

I dont make alot of money and i have 3 kids to suport.Can you get the surgury without a pcp.Will they help me figure out how to pay for it? the only time i went to a dr is when i was pregnent.I dont know for sure what being heavy has done to me for sure yet.    — gwen N. (posted on March 27, 2000)

Have you tried to apply for Medicaid in your home state? You may be eligible for Medicaid if you fall within their income guidelines. I had Medicaid and it paid for all but $100 of the surgery, including all the fee's associated with the surgery...the psych eval, the blood test, the EKG and any other pre op test I needed. I did need a PCP, and usually Medicaid makes you get a PCP. I would start there first. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me. Good Luck, Marni [email protected]
