Question:
If this surgery is no longer preformed, or in use, why was it suggested to me?
I'm getting more confused with the more information I get. Dr.Goodman had told me that in Canada, we are several years behind the states. That I can understand, but if there are so many risks involved with it, so many dangers... Why is it still being preformed period? I was lead to believe it was the best prcedure avaliable out there. — Betty S. (posted on January 31, 2000)

Betty, there is another surgery that is being performed in Canada, called
the duodenal switch. The overall results are fabulous and the long-term
quality of life is superb!!!
Go to www.duodenalswitch.com for more information and contact information
on surgeons in Canada. If you have any questions, please feel free to
contact me. [email protected]
I hope you find this helpful!!! Kris

James... i find your generalization of Canadian medicine very disturbing.
Ok, so ONE surgeon suggested this procedure.... AND?!? There are VERY good
surgeons up there who will not compromise the health of their patients.
The ONLY thing I find bad about the socialized medicine up there is the
waiting. WLS can take a few years to get, due to the waiting list. At
least they do not have to pay for it.
