Question:
Anyone more sensitive to pain since WLS?
Eversince my surgery I have been more sensitive to pain. I just went to the dentist to have a root canal and the novacaine was just unbearable. I started to have the shakes and thought I was going to pass out. I don't believe it was from nerves. I have pain medicine and now feel overmedicated. Does anyone have an answer? — Lorraine R. I have had a whole lot more pain in the last three months. I had my
surgery 1/11/99. I have lost +/- 125# now. And I feel more pain than I
ever have. Now, people say I am moving around more so that the arthritis,
ect. of course is going to be more ticked off and you are going to feel it.
Well I feel it alright! My regular doctor is not going any where with it.
I was prescribed percacets(sp) for pain but they really don't work. I
just don't care so much that I hurt and I can push longer before the pain
takes me down. I must also say I have a medical problem ~ asthma and that
I can't take any 'nsaid' family drugs as I start to wheeze. This family of
anti-inflamatories would probably do the world of good for relieving my
pain level. But it is still very heart breaking to have lost all this
weight and now have another problem that is just as 'painful'. I also have
to say that I am 44 going soon to be 45 years of age and you know what that
means...everthing falls apart now anyway... "just be thankful, if you
still had that weight, it would be worse." I could just shoot that
messanger.
I am looking for a better anwser. Right now I am in the blood work phase.
I will keep you informed. Please feel free to contact me directly through
e-mail (your best bet!) or I am learning about ICQ#16940667. Good luck.

I thought I was having anxiety attacks when I would visit the dentist until
the assisstant noticed that I was shaking real bad. I told her I was very
shaky and felt like my heart was beating a mile a minute. In the end she
said I was having a reaction to the epinephrine that they put in Novocaine
to control the bleeding. They can use another kind that does not have the
epinephrine in it. The epinephrine is just suppose to help it work better.
Try it next time and discuss it with your dentist.
