Question:
Has anyone used Callanetics?
I was just wondering if anyone has used Callanetics? It's deep muscle toning that works from the bone out, I've used previously and it works (when you stick with it), but I'm concerned about popping my scar or hurting myself. The exercises are all stretching and using small controlled movements mainly on the floor but some standing to stretch those stomach muscles! I call them balerina exercises! I enjoy them (even though they give me the shakes the first week or so) and I thought maybe I'd alternate walking 1/2 hour to 1 hour one day and then doing the callanetics on the off day. Anyone have any ideas? Is there anyone else who's using the Callanetics tape and can give me any feedback? — Carrie G. (posted on June 14, 1999)

Hi Carrie. I'm interested in the answer to this, also, as I have used the
tape in the past and I'm eager to use it again! Good luck!

Callanetics, Yes, I used them post-op. I waited a full 5 months to give
the abdomen a good chance to heal and prevent hernias or ruptures. Not a
problem. I loved them. Then I had a double tummy tuck 1 year ago. I have
yet to begin them again. It has only been in the last month or so that I
can do a simple leg lift again!!! After calanetics a silly leg lift seems
like childs play. Anyway, I am excited about beginning them again. Best
advise would be to give yourself a real good chance to heal from surgery,
walking is about the only thing we can do right away, and it is
recommended, in small doses. Take care.

I haven't had my surgery yet, so I don't know about using them post-op, but
I have used them in the past and I just think that these exercises are
WONDERFUL! I would recommend them to anyone. There is no jumping or
jerking around, you use very small, controlled motions - only moving your
body about 1/2 inch. They work very deeply and very fast. The last time I
was actually using these exercises regularly, I was not dieting at all (in
fact that was when I was going through my Taco Bell addiction) and in about
1 1/2 - 2 months I had changed my body so much that I was down two sizes!
I hadn't lost as much weight as you would think for going down two sizes,
but I was much more firm. They pull everything upwards. If you have a
certain spot or maybe some cellulite on your legs, you will be amazed at
how much it has moved in just a month of doing these exercises! You can
really use them to literally reshape your body. After I have my surgery
done, I will certainly be doing Callanetics again, but if you walk AND use
these exercises......watch out world!
