I'm researching this for a friend who has no health insurance. Are there any self payers out there in the Lehigh Valley or Monroe County PA area? She would like to find out about self paying and how much the cost is. By the way I had my surgery in MAy of 03 and am doing fantastic. Down 120 pounds, gone forever!    — Donna R. Hi Donna, I don't live in PA - I live in OR, but there are self-pay patients all over the place! One thing that a lot of us end up doing is going out of country for our surgery because it's so much more affordable - and in my case - got a super excellent surgeon who gave me a fighting chance to even live through surgery! tell her to try to find her own insurance first. Try www.carefirst.com and check out the blue choice plan. It covers it. and the insurance is 180.00 a month.
