Question:
Just starting soft/pureed food stage - how much should I be eating at a meal?
I'm about to make breakfast - scrambled eggs and refried beans, yum! - and want to know how much i should be shooting for to eat, just in case the ol' fullness-o-meter doesn't kick in? 1/4 c.? 1/3 c.? i'm still a baby with this eating, and am concerned my body won't tell me when to stop. Thanks! (OPEN RNY, 7/7/03; 227.6/215.8/133) — sweetmana (posted on July 16, 2003)

First thing you need to know is how big your pouch is and that should tell
you how much to eat. I would also suggest only tryng one new food a day and
only an ounce or so of that. Sit and wait to see how you feel for 5-10
minutes and then try another ounce. When I started purees I could eat maybe
2 ounces at a time. Certain thing go down easier like yogurt but don't push
your new little tummy too hard or it will rebel! I could also eat maybe a
whole soft boiled egg in about 20 minutes. I was stuffed after that.

I agree with the previous poster, but my own experience, when I first
started on some real-type foods was about what an egg shell (whole) would
contain. Good luck and congrats!

Hi I am 2-1/2 weeks post open RNY. I found that in the beginning I could
only eat 1/2 a scrambled egg. Now I can eat 3/4 of one. I don't eat until I
feel full though. I just stop when I "feel" that I have had
enough. Call it intuition or whatever, but it works for me. I can eat about
2 TBS max at a time right now.
