Question:
Do we need copies from the places we attended like Nutri System?
I have attended Weight Watchers, Nutri System, Quick Weightloss Center, Bally's etc. Do I just list them with the time frame they were in and the weight I lost? Or do I need to track them all down and get a copy from them saying I was there on letterhead stationary? — doodlebug (posted on June 5, 2003)

I think it depends on your insurance. I had united healthcare and all I had
to do was give a list of the dates and programs I attended.
Good luck,

I also tried Nutri-System and Ladies Only, and I didn't have to get any
documentation from them. I just listed the time frame for them, how much
weight I lost, and subsequently gained back, and that was it. I also
included all the diets that I tried on my own, without medical
documentation. They usually take that into consideration, because they
know that we all have tried just about every fad diet on the planet before
we resort to this. I'm happy to say I've been approved after my first
letter and am anticipating surgery August 19th! Good Luck on your journey!

Lap RNY......2/11/03
In my particular situation......All I needed was a detail list, but no
proof!
I had it, if need be. Maybe things have changed with insurance companies,
since I had my surgery.
I have Aetna Manage Choice and they have been wonderful.
I'm proud to say I have lost a total of 66 pounds and tons of inches in
less than 4 months. Started out at 250....
Good Luck!

Gwen, I've read that some ins. are now wanting to see 'proof' of a
'supervised' diet for a certain amount of time...but most don't. For now,
I would submit your list of attempts and see how it goes. You can always
get the required 'proof', if needed, once you know what they are looking
for. Have a great day!
