Question:
Does anyone know what the requirements are of the psychiatrist you see?
Do they have to be certified by the AMA or can they also be certified by the CCAA. I have medicaid and i want to make sure i do it right the first time, this is the only thing that is holding me up from getting my surgery. If anyone knows please help. — Heather R. (posted on May 19, 2003)

<font color="007000" face="tahoma">Heather, the
best thing to do would be to call your insurance and ask what they require.
I do not have the same insurance as you, but for me, I was not able to use
the mental health specialist that my doctors office normally uses as my
insurance required a certified Psychologist or Psychiatrist.

YOU MIGHT WANT TO ASK YOUR SURGEON. MINE HAS A GREAT AFTER CARE PROGRAM
THAT INCLUDES PSY CARE IF YOU FEEL YOU NEED IT. SO HE RECOMMENDS YOU USE
THAT DOCTOR TO DO THE EVAL. ALSO CHECK WITH YOUR INS. CO & SEE WHAT
THEY REQUIRE.
