Question:
Has anyone gotten approval from US Healthcare HMO in NY since 1/1/03?
Is it true that now the ins. co. wants documentation? Is it not enough for my PCP to write dates, programs, etc. for the past 6 months? Do I have to show I've seen a dietician?I'm almost done with all my pre-op visits and am getting worried now that I won't be approved. If anyone has been approved by them please let me know. Hi, I did a little research. I went to the "insurers" page (click
on at top of any page). I went to the NY page and scrolled down
alphabetically. I found a lot of US Healthcare listings including some
HMO's. Most of them were approved!!! There was an HMO approval as recent as
3/22/03. With each listing, there is an e-mail address of the member. Maybe
you could directly e-mail those members with your insurance and ask them
your specific questions? That way, you won't take a chance that they will
see your question. Hope this helps. Shelley

Hi, I have US HC PPO in NY. Had surgery on 3/18/03 with Dr. Roslin at
Lenox Hill. They took all of the insurance info and got me approved. I
DID get a letter from my PCP and had the PCP fax it to the surgeon. I left
the insurance co and the surgeon's office alone. I figured they knew what
they were doing and I certainly didn't. I was approved in a few days.
Good luck!!
