Question:
Extreme Pain going from below breast to below belly button

At first I thought maybe I had the flu. The pain started last weekend and hasn't let up. I even called the BTC and they said it might be a virus. This pain is keeping me awake at night and I'm miserable at work! I'm wondering if I might have an internal infection from the excess internal bowel skin they cut away after surgery. I'm almost 2 years out and have never felt like this before. My stomach is very swollen! Suggestions - help! I'm very concernced!    — dolphins94 (posted on March 6, 2003)

I have had the same miserable pain. I got an upper GI and they have found an ulcerated staple leak. Have an upper GI. I waited three months because I was so afrain. I had a Roux-en Y Gastric bypass with only a 1% chance of leakage.

I am going through the same thing, I think. HEre are my symptoms: after I eat, about 15-30 minutes after, I get significant pain in my abdomen, it also swells, and the pain hurts. It is middle of my abdomen ot the left mostly. I was hurting so bad that I ended up in the emergency room 2 saturdays ago. x-rays were OK. Labs are OK. I saw my pcp and had a CT of the abdomen done last friday which was also normal. I have an upper GI with small bowel follow through schedule for this friday. The pain has been horrendous for two weeks now. Up until today. I have been able to eat today with out any problem. I am still going to have the UGI done friday, but am begining to think it could have been viral too. Wouldn't that be nice!! I am betting that I have scar tissue buit up though.

I did call my surgeon and they believe it's a virus. I'm going to see my PCP on Saturday. I am hurting so bad I'm in tears!
