Question:
Fitday Question - problem with calories used ????
As part of trying to break this darn plateau I signed onto Fitday for the first time. I've recorded everything I ate & did so far today but it just doesn't look right. It shows me as burning just over 3600 calories so far, much of that from the basal (55%), 27% lifestyle, 18% activites ??? I've not exercised at the gym today or anything, infact its a pretty calm day for me. Can I possibly be burning almost 4x the calories I consume in a day? If so, then why isn't the scale dropping like crazy?? Your input would be greatly appreciated. — Shelly S. (posted on September 12, 2002)

I agree, it seems like I am burning way to many calories. I am taking in
1000 calories a day, and burning over 3000. If this is true, I should have
not been overweight at all! Maybe others out there can tell us if we are
inputting our information wrong. I am glad to see I am not the only one out
here confused.

Me too! Fitday does seem to indicate we should be weigh a negative number
after awhile. :P I'd be curious to know the answer!

I got a measurement from a device that said I burned over 5000 cal/day.
HAHA! If I burned 500, I'd be ahead of the game. Always remember that
rpograms & such a generic, and they're built for normies. That is,
people who are not genetically obese. People who have a 20# flux are NOT
us. We don't burn calories, we store them. If we had burned them, every
diet we tried would have worked. But instead, most of us GAINED on even
minimal calorie diets. Why? Because 1200 cal diets would starve a normie, b
ut we gain on them. If the original rules applied to us, we wouldn't be
sitting here having this chat, right?

I have never thought thatthe cal's burned on fit day worked right, or could
be right!! If it were right, I would be burning more then 4 x the number of
cals eat, I just cannot be doing that. I just use the cal counter.

You do burn calories all day long, just by breathing. When you sign on to
fit day, they use your weight and your indication of lifestyle to decide
how many calories you burn each day. If you weighed 120 pounds, your
calories burned each day would likely go down. I do agree it seems fairly
high to me, but I don't put much emphasis on it... they can't do much
really accurately without following you around each day and knowing exactly
what your activities are. personally, I don't put in every time I was the
dishes or do housework or have sex ... and you can do that. I just record
exercise I do JUST for exercise sake.
