Question:
Can you dump on Dryers Fat-Free No Sugar Added ice cream
After I ate chocolate fudge fat-free no sugar ice cream I became ill (for the second time). I was very light-headed, weak, sweaty. Can you dump on FF/SF? If so, how long after you eat does this happen? I didn't think it was dumping the first time b/c it happened about 1 hour after I had eaten the ice cream. Second time it happened about 1 hour also. That says NO SUGAR ADDED, but milk still has sugars and so do the yummy
things they put IN the ice cream. Sorry. You can get Fat Free, Sugar Free
(Nutrasweet) ice cream from Stroh's...and it's quite tasty...although EVERY
time (ok, all 3 times) I have had it I got umm...runny number 2's. Gross I
know, but I've heard from others that have had the same reaction on true
ff/ss ice cream. ps- that was dumping that you experienced

Tammy, I dump on any kind of ice cream. I can eat frozen yogurt and sorbet
without any problems. They have become my treats. I even dumped on Mocha
Mix non dairy "ice cream".

It may not be dumping that you experienced, it may be that you are now
lactose intolerant and it could be the milk that is getting to you. I
absolutely cannot have more than 1 or 2 bites of any kind of ice cream
without horrible stomach cramps, sweating, nausea, and diarrhea for hours
and exhaustion! Same thing happens if I drink milk (so forget cereal). I
can have small amounts (like in my coffee or cooked in foods without much
problem) but ice cream was definately something I had to give up. Small
price to pay but I do admit being jealous when I get my kids a shake at
Sonic. I'll take one sip but know better than to do more than that!
Anyway, just my experience it could be dumping or you may not simply be
able to do dairly anymore. Hope this helps!

Usually when I dump it is within 15 minutes or so of
"overindulging." I would agree with the other posters that it
sounds like the lactose may be the problem. You might try frozen yogurt
because the active cultures help break down the lactose so you won't be
sick. Blue Bunny makes a great ff/sf frozen yogurt bar in both fruit and
chocolate swirls. I used them just after surgery. The chocolate one even
has 4 grams of protein!

hi. I don't know if you are lactose intolerant like others were mentioning,
but i know that the problem I have with SF & FF icecream with me is the
nutrasweet they use with it. I have no problems with milk and dairy, but
the amount of nutrasweet or asperatime they use to make up for the sugar
makes me get the 'dumping' feeling. so unfortunately, i can't really eat
the sf icecreams anymore. i actually do better with the real sugar stuff,
weird isn't it? so maybe that is your problem, too. I felt just like you
did, weak and light headed about 1/2 hour after i ate it.

I am 5 weeks post op RNY and had my first episode of dumping on the way
home from the hospital! It was on 100%, no sugar added pineapple juice
that was approved by my surgeon's nurse. I had a 2 hour ride home, and the
first 45 minutes was miserable! I also dumped a few days later when I
tried a SF pineapple posicle. I guess I have to give up pineapple now for
good :(
