Question:
Has anyone had expirience with out of network benefits???

My ins. co. has approved me for the surgery, I could go locally in network, but would prefer the specialists at BTC in Belvidere. I have a resonable out of pocket maximum,but am concerned if BTC's charges will fall within ins. co. guidelines for reasonable and customary charges. i am responsible for 100% of anything over R&C. If anyone has had an expierience with BTC or any other facility regarding out of network charges I would greatly appreciate any feedback. Thanks, Dave.    — David R. (posted on February 28, 2002)

Most physicians and hospitals charge alot over the UCR (usual,customary and reasonable).Another thing you have to consider is that there will not just be one bill. If the surgeon,hospital and anesthesiologist (just to name a few) all bill separately so if they are all out of network they will all be billing for the amount over the UCR. On the plus side though some surgeons if asked will accept the insurance UCR as payment in full. I would suggest you ask your surgeon about this option. What is the worst he can say "No"!
