Question:
Need advice on individual BC of ID plans!
I have the application for Blue Cross of Idaho. If anyone has any experience on which plan is best for covering WLS PLEEEASE contact me. I only have until Tuesday to get it FAXED in for coverage for March before the rates go up. Has anyone used "Personal Blue" Major Medical 1000, 2000, 3000, or 5000???? — Shelly S. Shelly... I do not have that insurance but have learned a lot trying to get
my own through. Since time is of the essence for you: Go on this site to
insurers and look up your insurance and see the listings of people they
have or have not covered. It will give you a sense. The key part though
is finding out what exclusions your policy has. If your company has placed
exclusions on it then it may override everything else. Find out if your
company (assuming its your employer?) is self-funded. If they are, they
can make a lot more of the rules outside of the system. If you go ahead
with it, then cover your bases and make sure you send everything in when
your Dr. submits your info for approval: letters of medical necessity,
medical history, comorbidities, etc. Good luck to you.

Shelly......I had applied for the Major Med2000 policy. It has a $2000
deductible, but pays 100% after you meet that, so no 90/10 or 80/20 splits
on top of the deductible. The exclusion they listed was a little vague,
but it also gives the impression there is an exception for "medical
necessity". That seems to be the case on all of the Major Med
INDIVIDUAL policies in Idaho, to my knowledge. Hope that helps, let me
know how it comes out.
