Question:
Is wls comparable to c-section in the risk department? Assuming all the same stats.
I am talking like two identical twins at the same weight, bmi, and co-morbs. If they are medically identical and one has a c-section and the other has wls, are the risks the same. What about recovery and healing? I would really like to know and any help from pros in the med field would surely be welcome. — kyle S. (posted on February 20, 2002)

Hi Kyle, I can't answer for sure about the risks, but I do *believe* that
they are comparable. As far as recovery and healing, I had a c-section in
'93 and my RNY Nov '01. I truly believe that the c-section was much more
painful for me. To me the lap RNY was not painful, just soreness. Of
course everyone has a different level of pain threshold, and I believe that
a positive attitude contributes to a successful recovery also. And the
recovery was quicker, but with the c-section I was taking care of a newborn
:~) And remember, once you are losing weight and feeling great, the pain
becomes a distant memory!! Enjoy your journey!
