Question:
My sister in law's relative had same surgery with same surgeon
A couple weeks ago my sister in law's sister in law (got that lol) had a lap rny with the same surgeon I am scheduled to have do my surgery on April 27. She has not done well, developing a bad infection and pneumonia. Now my support network is getting nervous and worried about me having my surgery. She is home from the hospital but still fighting infection and the inflated temperatures that go with the infection. I am not afraid to go ahead and still think it is the best thing for me. Guess I just need some words of reassurance and support. I know we are all different, but she is younger, lighter and didn't have the co morbidities that I have. Thanks for bearing with me. — cheryl R. (posted on April 15, 2001)

a week before my surgery , my weight loss buddy had her surgery , we both
had the same doctor. She was a complete mess , she ended up in the ICU ,
had to be rushed back to the OR because of the internal stitches failing.
And no one was sure if she would live or die. I swallowed real hard and
came to this website read the writeups about my doctor Who is a Professor
of Surgery and Trama surgeon , I read all the statistics and put everything
in God's hands. Turns out my fried was taking a blood thinner and didn't
stop when she should have. I did everything I was supposed to do , went off
of all my meds as directed and prayed a lot. There are no guarantees in
this life, and I knew it was a matter of time before one of my Co-Morbids
killed me anyway. Had the surgery came through with flying colors. No
problems. Now if you read my doctors profile you will see she has some
complaints , so what. She had great credentials ,I did my part, both before
and after and she does so many surgeries I would think it strange if there
were no problems ever. Sometimes things just happen. Sometimes they don't.
I can't tell you everything will be fine but I wanted to share my
experience with you and show you that good and bad happens. You have to
weigh the negitive and positive and see which one wins. Good luck , I will
pray for you.

Infections happen after surgery for any number of reasons. She may have
had the infection before surgery, and with the toll surgery takes on your
body, that could make it worse. Unless this is happening every time with
this one particular doctor, I would suggest that her post op illness is a
coincidence. Infection is one of the possible complications of surgery.
