Question:
How many cc's is pouch size with each surgery
Hi I am pre-op and leaning towards DS. I know the RNY and VBG leaves you with a pouch that holds only about 15 cc's of food, right? What about the DS? And in order to compare that, what size is a pre-op stomach in cc"s? I don't know how to translate cc's into cup size either, so if you can answer that, it would be great too! thanks — laura T. In the average adult the stomach can hold approximately 64 ounces (1,920
cc's) prior to surgery. It isn't uncommon in an obese individual to have an
even greater stomach capacity. DS surgeons make the stomach size 4 to 6
ounces...it depends on the surgeon....you won't know unless you ask the
surgeon. I hope this helps. Good luck to you no matter which type of
surgery you choose.

8 ounces is equivalent to 1 cup which is equivalent to 240 cc's.....cc's
and millilitres are also equal.

Laura,
My doctor makes the pouch the size of a golf ball. It starts out being the
size of a football. I had the RNY. Although it is supposedly so small, I am
still able to eat a decent meal. So far, I have lost 104# in 5 months. Hope
this helps!
