Question:
night time grazing
I did great with the rules and staying on track , until xmas. I found out i can eat alot more and of all the wrong foods. I discouvered I dont dump any longer and can eat about anything. yes that doesnt mean I should but,I ate all wrong and no gains. problem is I am still eating about the way i did over the hoidays. I do great durning the day staying on track but as soon as evening gets here I am out of bed several times through out the night eating something, anything, not large amounts at one time but many times. i dont sleep well and each time i wake up i eat, or i eat several times while i am waiting to go to sleep, thinging that if i eat something it will help me sleep. i havent gained yet, but it will happen soon if i keep on this track. help please. — terri R. I often get hungry at night and get up to eat. I TRY to limit myself to
just protein. Example a couple slices of deli meat or some cheese. Feed
your body if you must, but do it WISELY. ;)

Since you seem to do well during the day and your trigger point is after
you go to bed, perhaps looking into your sleep patterns and how to stay
asleep would solve this problem. There is a natural over the counter sleep
aid called melatonin. Have you tried it? If that is not strong enough ask
your doctor for a prescip for ambien. Its a wonderful drug, puts you out
right away and 7-8 hours later you awake refreshed. You cant stay on this
one for long like you can the melatonin but for a week or two its worth it.
Your right, you may not have gained yet, but you would eventually, so best
to nip this in the bud now.

I have this same problem, but please, please, do yourself a favor, and if
you choose to eat, eat protein only (deli meats, cheeses). I find that if
I eat one 'wrong' thing at night or when I get home, it sets me up to fail
the rest of the night. The carbs just make me want to eat and eat, almost
to the point of binging. I know it's hard, but try this....I've yet to
gain an ounce off of eating lean meats and cheeses, but boy do the scales
show a different story if I allow too many carbs in my diet. Plus, I don't
really think there's an issue with 'when' you eat or what time you eat,
just what you eat. At least, I've found this is the case for me.....
