Question:
WARNING to all - drink your water!!!

I just got back from the ER in the hospital. As I was driving to work I had the worst pain on my left side behind my hip and had to pull over. After an hour of extreme pain a friend at work drive me to the hospital. While I was there I passed a kidney stone (a very small one in my opinion). The doctor said it could be casued from drinking too much cola, grape juice, or getting too much calcium. Mine was from not getting in enough water a day. I usually can only get in about 32-40 ounces. I am simply too busy and slack off. Not any more. That pain was more than enough to make me realize that I need ALL of my water.    — Heather M. Heather, could you please let me know EXACTLY what it felt like? I am having intermittent sharp pain on my lower left side right at my hip bone. It almost feels like gas cause it comes and goes. Tylenol relieves it slightly but not completely. I have no other symptoms. Thanks!

OMG... thanks for the warning. I have a feeling I'm walking in your shoes. I've had two urine samples of late come back with oxalate crystals of a moderate level. From what I understand, these little crystals are roaming around in my kidneys just waiting to cluster together and form a stone. I have been successful with the weight loss but terrible about drinking water. NOT ANYMORE! I'm scared. Thanks for your post.

I posted almost the exact same warning here in August. I had a kidney stone and after two trips to the ER, I finally passed it. It was more painful than anything with the surgery (it was as bad or worse than childbirth). I feel for you as I know first hand that it is a horrible, awful, painful thing to go through.

Hi Heather- Sorry you had such a bad experience! I can relate, I passed a gallstone about 15 years ago, and I can honestly say that pain was worse than anything else I have ever experienced. I thought I was dying. Good Luck to you. Mea :o)
