Question:
How long should I wait to have Bio Ionic hair treatment?
Are there any hair care professionals who are familiar with WLS (open rny) and the Bio Ionic (hair straightening) hair treatment? If so, my question is how long after surgery should I wait before having this treatment? I am not on any medication and am 12 weeks post op. I have asked my surgeons office, they are currently researching. I appreciate any and all feedback. Thanks Liz (open rny -35lbs) — Liz B. (posted on May 19, 2003)

Hi Liz! I just had the Magic Straight done (same thing, different brand),
and I love it! But, I'll be 4 years out in August. My non-professional
advice would be to wait until you're about 8-9 months out to make sure you
don't go through that hair-loss phase and lose a lot of your
newly-straightened hair. The new growth after that phase tends to come in
pretty fast because we're usually on high protein diets, so that would kind
of defeat the purpose, if you know what I mean. I'm sorry to have to tell
you to wait such a long time when you're only 3 months out, but I think
you'll understand why I'm recommending that you wait. Good luck...Oh, and
great weight loss!
