Question:
Does anyone use vaccum sealers??
I'm wondering if anyone has found a vaccum sealer to be helpful post-op for things like: saving leftovers; cooking meals ahead of time and then being able to just nuke the bag or pop it in a pot of boiling water; still being able to buy in bulk, but sealing stuff so it doesn't go bad; using it to marinade foods (my surgeon's RD reccomended marinading to increase flavor). — Michael A. Yes, we purchased a food saver, (the one they have on the TV) bought it at
Target. It has been great. We purchase in bulk at Sams and then split it up
and freeze. Use them for boiling bags or have made TV dinners. Left overs
from Christmas went in the freezer. It was the best purchase we have made.
Talk about savings...I recommend them.

I have had one of those for years and use it even more than I did pre op.
When I was first pre op and I had to go back to work I vacuum sealed my
"mini-meals" to heat up in the microwave @ work...I never had to
worry about portion control at that point...it made my life a whole lot
easier. I still do the same thing...I also use it for my kids to make
controlled portions of favorite meals when I am at work and they want to
heat some snacks up or something...take care and good luck!! Have a
Sparkling New Year!! ~CAE~

Okay, guys, not trying to promote anything here...just a
FYI......Tupperware has a terrific marinating container and they also sell
various small containers you can put your mini meals in; some go direct
from freezer to microwave. If you need help finding a Tupperware person, I
know several here in the L.A. area.
