Question:
Has anyone been approved when there is an exclusion for WLS with your insurance comp?

I was reading over my policy and there is an exclusion to WLS. It states that it does not cover it. I have not called United Health Care for more information yet because I am afraid of their answer. Has anyone been approved despite an exclusion? Thanks so much for any information.    — Dody T. (posted on December 15, 2002)

From what i understand an exclusion is nearly impossible to overturn. I have united health also and mine has an exclusion EXCEPT for medical necessity. So it depends on how it is worded. Good luck!!

Hey I have a WLS exclusion with BCBS Of GA PPO. But the insurance company also told me that if it was deemed medically necessary they would have to approve it. And they did ,my surgery is JAn 17. Good luck
