Question:
How do you drink so much protein and stay
Hi I'm 4 weeks Post op Lap RNY and am having trouble with getting in protein and being regular. This is embarrassing but I've been constipated badly several times all after consuming protein drinks for a day or two. I get in about 1/2 my water per day and very little food b/c I had a stricture last week and I'm back to liquids! Help! My brain is spinning and body withering. — Tabatha M. (posted on July 8, 2002)

Try peri-colace or Milk of Magnesia, but make sure to try to drink more
water, especially in this heat. Good luck.

I'm 3 and half weeks out, and if I don't get in the protein and the water,I
feel really yukky during the day, and then I don't sleep well. All this
compounds if it goes on and I just feel yukkier and yukkier. Can you do
V-8 or tomato soup? That helps me stay regular. Can you combine any fruit
like blueberries or strawberries with your protein drinks? If so, that
will help. Try your very best to get the water and protein in. Vitalady
has a complete pre-digested protein in 2 flavors that you can mix with the
water. Good luck!

You may be a little early out for this but my surgeon told me to eat a
couple of pieces of dried fruit (prunes, peaches or apricots) to prevent
constipation. I eat two dried apricots every day and have no problems
whatsoever.
Ask you doctor - but in the meantime, try to get in as much water or
Crystal Light as possible. The more fluids you take in, the less
constipation you have. Exercise is also supposed to help.
Hope this helps you some.
