Question:
I have recently moved to the Worcester Ma. area. I have found a surgeon
the only problem is my PCP is still in the boston area, so my Ins co. will not let my surgeon do my surgery because he is out of "network". I dont want to switch PCPs I have blue cross, anyone have this problem? They want me to goto a boston Hosp, with a waiting list of over a year. Anyone have any suggestions? — Lisa D. Hi, I live in Boston and had my rny at Brigham and Womens. I
have two friends who had their rny's at Mass. General. We all
had our surgeries within two to three months of approval. Also,
I work at a teaching hospital in Boston and no hospital could
survive financially if they had year long waiting lists for
elective surgeries. You really only have three options: change
pcp's and get an in-network referral to the surgeon, keep the
Boston pcp and have him refer you to a Boston surgeon, or go
out-of-network. This will cost you $$, but you won't have to wait
a year.
