Question:
I was told by my surgeon that cigna wants documentation of diets
I was told that cigna wants documentation of medically supervised diets or programs.((3)well-documented diet programs within the last 5 years,1 of which needs to be in the last 12 months, and each diet must be 12 weeks long). I have been on diets for the last 10 years, but have not been able to afford to see doctors for diets, and do not have 3 medically supervised diets with documentation. Does anyone know what else I can do? Has anyone been approved with out the above documentation. Any advice or help would greatly be appreciated. I am desperate to get surgery. I have Cigna PPO, and I wrote down all of the diets I have been on, Dr.
supervised or not. It took 3 months for me to get approved. It just takes
some time for the review board to get to the paperwork, I bugged my
surgeons office about once a month to follow up on the progress of my
paperwork.
I had my surgery March 2001, and have lost 64 pounds so far. Good luck to
you with your journey.

well I too have cigna..and it just depents on alot of things...your BMI is
one big one...I know this if u are 100 pounds over weight and have been 4
atleast 5yrs and have tried diffrent diets..medical or not with some other
health issue then it is more like that u will be approved the first letter
sent..4 me I was approved on my first letter sent and it was just over a
month..and they decided with in a week from the time they got my
papers...and I didnt have to jump thru in hoops..good luck hopefuly things
well go just as good 4 u as they did 4 me.. and I would like to say to the
pll that are still waiting on approvals... or keep getting denied...my
pray's are with u and hold your head up high there is hope at the end of
the tunel...u will be on the other-side..god bless..adrena..:-))

I have Cigna and I provided supervised weight loss programs such as Weight
Watchers, Jenny Craig & NutriSystem. I did not have to produce
documentation - just let them know I'd attended these programs. Cigna
makes it tough but if you refuse to give up - they'll back down. See my
profile for my Cigna story.
