Question:
I was approved to have surgery by dr. Keith Marshall, who is not allowed to do it now
Now I am in a catch 22..... After fighting with my insurance company since Feb 21st (my scheduled surgery date), they finally gave me premission to see Dr. Michael Hocking, only to find out that he is not taking new patients till after the new year. My insurance says I must stay in Florida. I can't find a doctor now, after all the fighting I did with the insurance company, it just does not seem fair. I have a supervisor at the insurance company trying to help me now atleast, but if you have any suggestions, they would be greatly appreciated. Also, does anyone know whats going on with Dr. Marshall now? — Toni B. (posted on April 21, 2001)

I too had contacted Dr. Marshall's office and found out that it is the
hospital that he works out of that has prohibited the procedure from being
done. Evidently it was not profitable for the hospital. Dr. Marshall is
looking for another facility to perform WLS but it could take a few more
months. I was also referred to Dr. Hocking, but didn't want to wait until
the end of the year. I went to Dr. Vaughan in Jupiter Florida. It does
the Lap RNY and I was extremely pleased. Because I paid cash, he performed
my surgery one week after the initial consultation. He is wonderful.

Hi Toni: I just read your post and directly above your post where it says
FIND A DOC click on that and it will bring up the USA map, then click on
Florida and you will see many doctors listed in your home state. Hope this
helps and maybe you can get in to see one of them before the end of the
year. Lorraine

Hi Toni: Since my first answer to your post earlier this evening I was
doing some research in the library and came across two doctors in Ft.
Lauderdale that do the Fobi-type surgery. This is the same type that
Carney Wilson and Rosanne had done. Their names are Norman Samuels, and
Robert Marema, his Phone # 914.491.0900. I don't know how close you are to
Ft. Lauderdale but it's worth a try and hope this helps you. When I came
across this it immediately made me think of my answer to your post. Good
Luck, hon. Lorraine PS This is the same type surgery I'm having done on
May 15.

I don't think Carnie Wilson had the Fobi-prochedure.
Maybe Rosane did.
