Question:
Does anyone know anything about BC/BS of AZ, PPO?
I am changing my insurance in June to BC/BS of AZ, PPO. Did this insurance give anyone any problems with approving weight loss surgery? I have an HMO right now, and they shot me down. Thus, the change to the PPO. Does this insurance also demand specific pre-ops....like a psych eval, sleep study, etc.? Any and all info would be extremely helpful! — Lisa J. (posted on May 8, 2000)

I have BC/BS of AZ PPO and I did not have one bit of trouble. I was told by
another Dr. that it would not be covered, but when I called Dr. Zahn's
office they helped with the paperwork and in just a few short weeks I was
approved and had a date. I called them directly and did not go through a
PCP. I am almost 4 months post op and have lost 65 pounds. I only had the
pre op testing that was required by a very thorough Dr. Zahn of which I am
greatful. Nothing unusual was required by my insurance company and things
have gone very well with them. I had a few minor co-morbidities and a BMI
of 45 at the time of surgery. Good Luck.
