Question:
what's the longest w/o complications someone has been off of work
after open rny? just curious, I just informed my employer tonight that I will be having this surgery and I would be off anywhere from 6 to 8 weeks, I wanted to give them the longest time, I work in a factory with alot of lifting and bending over into crates. was that accurate enough? Thanks.. — kelkel319 (posted on July 31, 2003)

I asked for 8 weeks. I had to go back to the hospital for one more week
because of my potasium. Still at 8 weeks I was feeling very tired but I was
able to do my office work.
Good Luck!!!

Although you'd be able to go back to work providing you're having the
surgery laproscopically, you'll be so tired I doubt you'll be able to
actually do all the work required. I think 6 to 8 weeks off is a good
amount of time if you can get it.
