Question:
Does anyone know if Mamsi Alliance PPO will cover LAP BAND?
My doctor told me I was a good canidate for the LAP BAND. I'm 27 male, a good dieter and am severely overweight. My BMI is 58. I'm curious to know if anyone has tried to get the LapBand approved through Mamsi Alliance PPO? If so, what did it take for it to happen? Did you get approved? Should I even try for the LapBand or just go for the Bypass? I am in the middle of seeing all the doctors needed for the pre-screening. Thanks for any help. Your question is a alot more complicated than you may know. Alliance/Mamsi
is the management company for "self insured" plans. You need to
find out who actually approves the surgery (Alliance rarely has this
authority). In my case it was CBA (Cooperative Benefits Administrators) and
I was approved for RNY-LAP in 5 days. They approve/disapprove based on your
companies individual plan. The "pre-approval" company info is
usually on the back of your insurance card.

I don't know anything about that insurance, but you may want to check out
the yahoo group for lapband insurance support. They might know... Here is
the site: <p> http://groups.yahoo.com/group/BandstersInsurance/
