Question:
Has anyone out there lost someone close to them who died after having weight loss surgery?
Tomorrow, March 4th, is one year since my best friend, Ginger Brewster, died from complications 19 days after her weight loss surgery. She is on the memorial page of this website. I miss her very much and its been very difficult for me. Has anyone out there lost someone close to them who died after having weight loss surgery? I'd love to hear how other people cope with such a loss. I need all the support I can get. Thanks so much. — Hackett (posted on March 3, 2003)

Hi Susan, I just read your story of your dear friend Ginger. I'm so sorry
for your loss. I have not had anyone close to me die from wls, but I did
lose a dear friend on 1-13-03 from breast cancer. The only thing we can do
is go on.
I had severe complications following my wls in Jan/02. I've outlined most
of them in my profile. My family did not think I would make it, but by the
grace of God I did.
I also wanted to tell you, that I was born and raised in the
Manassas/Woodbridge area. Husband is from Falls Church.
Wish I had words to help you deal with your loss, but I don't know that
there are any.

My mother died in 1975 after intestinal bypass surgery. I'd say I was
pretty close to her. That did NOT keep me from having the surgery myself.
I will be 1 year post-op in 12 days and have lost 130 pounds! I would
NEVER go back to 350 and wouldn't change a thing about my decision.
