Question:
I have a NUMB BUM!
I know this may sound silly but ever since surgery my @ss has been, well a pain in the back side. I am 2 months out from surgery and I still experience numbness and pain in my rear when I sit in the same position for even a short while. I had some serious complications from surgery and had to sleep in a recliner for the past few months and I was unable to exercise. Recently I have been more active and sleeping on my side or tummy at night, but nothing seems to help. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated, thanks so much. — JM B. (posted on November 12, 2002)

Did you have an epidural for your surgery? My butt is not numb but my
thighs have been that way since my surgery seven months ago. I feel sure it
was caused by the epidural.

I AM 9 WEEKS OUT AND MY BUM IS STILL NUMB!!!!! I ASK MY DOC ABOUT IT, AND
HE SAID HE DOESN'ST NO WHAT COULD BE CAUSING IT. I SLEPT IN A RECLINER FOR
A WEEK AFTER COMING HOME, BUT ITS STILL NUMB. I AM HOPING IT WILL GO AWAY.
IF YOU GET ANY GOOD ANSWERS, PASS THEM ON TO ME PLEASE!!

I had this problem when I was losing quickly early in my journey. I
couldn't sit without my bottom hurting, felt like my butt was too boney,
although it wasn't. It would also become numb. I have seen where this is
pretty common following WLS.

I too have had numb hips. Its been going on for a few months now and I'm
almost a year post-op! It doesn't matter which side I try and sleep on.
My doctor was puzzled and thought it might have something to do with my
B-12 level.

How funny! Wouldn't have thought twice about it if you hadn't posted.
Mine goes numb now also. Just figured it was bad posture or something :-)
