Question:
Will I be able to have Lap/gastric bypass surgery if I had hysterectomy surgery?
My surgical consultation date is not until the 29th of this month and I was just curious to find out if anyone knows from their own experience if I would be able to have Lap/surgery. I weigh 245, but I had hysterectomy surgery almost 2 years ago. Your comments would be greatly appreciated. — Colleen V. (posted on April 10, 2002)

I had an abdominal hysterectomy in June 1998, had an adhesion from that
surgery removed by emergency surgery in June 2000, and was still able to
have my Lap RNY in December 2000. Shouldn't be a problem, IF your surgeon
is experienced in Lap procedures! Good luck.

I had two c-sections (bikini cut) and an abdominal hysterectomy (vertical
cut from the navel down). I had my lap RNY 2/21/02 and am doing just fine.
Best of luck to you!

I had had 2 C-sections and an abdominal hysterectomy (all vertical
incisions), in addition to a "traditional" gallbladder surgery,
before my lap RNY. If your surgeon is skilled in laparascopy, there should
not be a problem at all. Good luck!
