Question:
NY - looking for surgeon willing to obtain ins. approval for payment

i had open rny 15 months ago and need to start my consults with plastic surgeons in the new york area.i have sagging and hanging skin all over but my first concern is my tummy and breasts.any one who can reccommend a plastic surgeon please feel free to contact me.    — suzanne J. I would start by asking the surgeon who did you RNY. They will often know of plastic surgeons who have experience in removing the excess skin.

I plan on starting with my ob/gyn. The problems I am having the most are where my tummy sags over my belly button and where it sags down over my thighs. In these sags it is real easy for me to get infections, even in my belly button (I DO shower daily!) I am going to tell my ob/gyn about the infections and hopefully he will prescribe a panniculectomy (sp?). Good Luck!

Dear Suzanne: I've have it ALL done now (2 1/3 yrs post op from lap BPD/DS) -- arms, breasts, neck, TT, inner thighs, outer thighs and butt (lower body lift). I live in the NYC area and interviewed several NY PSs (who were totally uninformed, unwilling and unmotivated to use the health insurance that covers us for removal of redundant skin after massive weight loss. I am eterally grateful to have found the PS who did all the above mentioned work -- and got it covered by insurance. Try Dr. Zachary Gerut, 516 295-2100. He has offices in NYC and Long Island. He is very committed to helping the previously MO population regain their lives. I have a fabulous new body that wouldn't have been possible w/o him (or my DS surgeon, Dr. Michele Gagner) and recommend both men highly.
