Question:
Do others have problems with alot of diarhea?
I am in the restroom all the time especially if I have eatten gravy or something greasy. Also can they eat pizza. The breaded items fill me up so fast and the greasy stuff tends to make me sick. I still can't drink milk not even with lactate pills, what to do as I love milk? — Cyndee O. (posted on January 24, 2001)

When I worked in the nursing profession, my head nurse told me doctors
often use metamucil when patients have diarrhea. It helps to bind you up so
the diarrhea will not be so bad. Sounds crazy I know, but you may want to
try it a few times per day or before your meals.

Have you tried OTC Immodium or its generic form, loperamide? If you're
lactose intolerant, have you tried cheese? It's lactose-free.

Hi Cyndee ... Did you have your gall bladder removed during or before WLS??
I am a pre-op WLS patient, but I had my gall bladder out three years ago.
What you are describing is a typical post cholocystectomy reaction to
greasy foods and milk products. I, like you , are very sensitive to greasy
foods particularly. Taking an over the counter anti-diarrhea medicaiton
like Imodium before those meals will make a huge difference. I'm not
having too much trouble with milk, however Soy milk maybe a good solution
to your "love of milk" needs. My husband became lactose
intolerant a few years ago, and was addicted to his cereal and milk. He
went without for years, but about a year ago, fell in love with "SUN
SOY", sold in the dairy case right next to the milk. Good luck ... I
totally understand what your taking about. P.S. .... ALWAYS keep Imodium
in your purse, and if you are post-op, I would DEFINITELY check out any
medications with your surgeon before taking them, including the Imodium!
