Question:
Any suggestions for pre-op? I have 3 months to prepare.
My hair is almost waist long, medium thickness. Is there any thing I can do to prepare my hair before surgery to make it in the best condition possible. I do not really want to cut it yet but plan to after I get to my goal as a added bonus on the new me! — smummert (posted on December 31, 2000)

Since SOME hair loss is inevitable, from the anesthesia, at the least,
you're wise to try to head it off NOW. With my first surgery ('94), I knew
nothing and had quite a bit of hair loss (and nails). With my tummy tuck
('95), I knew a little more, so had less hair loss, but my nails were still
shot. By the time I had my revision in 1/2000, I was a LOT smarter. I
increased my Hair,Skin, Nails to 3 per day, upped my zinc and vit E, and
increased my protein supplement to 180g per day minimum. I did have some
hair loss at the 4 month mark, but just enough to mess up the shower drain,
not enough to be noticeable. I've seen some pre-ops start out on the Hair,
Skin, Nails, extra zinc & E (though some docs prefer you not to take E
ahead), and 60-120g protein supplement and have very minimal loss. You've
got 3 whole months! Wow! I'm very curious to see what you do and how it
works for you!
