Question:
Has anyone ever had BC/BS (BLUECHOICE HMO) pay for wls?

I am scared to death that my insurance company will not pay for the surgery! I've had nothing but negative responses from individual emails and my previous surgeon. I am waiting on approval from BC/BS right now. It has been 2 weeks since the surgeon's assistant sent the letter requesting surgery. After one week, the insurance company requested additional information. The information was sent. Kathy, the assistant spoke with the insurance company today. She informed me that Dr. Appel was going to speak with the medical director at BC/BS and try to resolve the issue. I hope to know the outcome soon.

I also have BC/BS of Ga. and my policy also has the exclusion, but not for morbid obesity. Someone mentioned talking to your employee benefits department. Can you elaborate??
