Question:
It's open enrollment at General Motors all our choices are HMO's now what?
We have been waiting for open enrollment through General Motors. Now we were told that Blue Traditional is not open to us this year for some reason. Blue Care Network-HMO is available to us has anyone dealt with them, how are they, & what do you need to do to get aproved. If that's possible. I have not had luck with HMO'S(Care Choices). Wish me luck. — Colleen K. (posted on October 12, 2000)

Before you chose a plan, ask to see the exclusions. If the surgery is not
excluded any plan should cover if medically necessary. Good luck.

I'm a G.M. salaried worker and open enrollment was Oct/Nov for us. In the
workbook received from the company it shows the different selections we
have. The first and second selections show #1. Traditional #2.
Enhanced.....had I known last enrollment period what I know now I would
have chosen the #2. Enhanced because both of these choices are BCBS.
Unfortunately in the booklet it does not say anywhere that.....that is what
it is. I think they do not explain this because they don't want us to
choose it, I'm not sure. Regardless because of this I had to wait a while
year because I chose Select Care. This enrollment period I chose the
Enhanced (which is also Traditional but you pay a different amount of
money.....you'd have to call the benefits office to have them explain).
And because I chose BCBS I was able to already have my consultation with
the surgeon which was 1/2/02. My psych eval is scheduled for 1/23/02 and
if everything goes ok my surgery will be scheduled for mid-March. One good
thing is that I saw my PCP once a month in 2001 and received documentation
of weight loss attempts and other documentation that will hopefully help my
case with the ins. co. I'll have to update as soon as I learn any more
info.
