Question:
Does the initial feeling of fullness change in a few months?
I had an open RNY (Distal) on 12/10. Initially I had an very distinct feeling when I got full, however in the apast few days I have not had that , although I do still get full, but where my body told me before, now it seems to come from my head telling me I am full? I was a little nervous, I found comfort in my new stomach telling I had enough..I know I am still now overeating..but Is this normal?? — Patricia R. (posted on February 8, 2002)

Hi, I'm 6.5 months post op and have noticed this as well. For me I started
to notice this around month 5 when I no longer felt a sick overstuffed
feeling with eating. I don't really eat more now, but I simply feel
nauseated if I eat too much rather than a distinct pain. And I haven't
thrown up for about 2 months. I think that now my brain has gotten
accustomed to the smaller stomach and therefore I don't have to get to that
overstuffed stage to feel full.

Original poster here! I wrote that I know I now overeat...I meant I know
that I do NOT overeat. Also I also feel nausea instead of the
"pain" in the pouch telling me I am done.It helps to know it is
normal! thanks

I had LAP on 12/12. At first I ate more than I do now. Today I ate 1/2 of
a giant hamburger ( not the bread) but ate the lettuce and tomato I have
never eaten this much, and my stomach did not hurt/nausea. But I felt full.
Tomorrow I may feel like just eating a few bites of something I never
know... But I'm sure I will get to know my new pouch as time goes on.
