Question:
can anyone share their hernia repair experiences with me
I am going to need a hernia repair sooner or later. my Dr. suggested waiting till near goal and having the TT at the same time. I think I want to have another baby and dont want a TT yet. What was the procedure and recovery like? LAP or OPEN? How long in the hospital? How much pain involved??? Anyone have it repaired then get another hernia? Thank You for sharing with me> — Kathy831 (posted on July 21, 2001)

I had three hernia repaired and abdominoplasty Jan 2, 2001 I won't lie
to you it was a rough surgery and I have a very high pain tolerance also...
I just don't like taking pain medication so I try to just tough it out. My
hernias were incisional located above, around and below the belly button..
I was in the hospital 4 days and yes it was an open procedure to
accomplish the abdominolplasty and panni removal and repair all three
hernias. I had to have a revision surgery 6/16 after developing another
hernia and repair an open incision.. This last hernia may have developed
after surgery or was missed the first time .. who knows.. here is my
webpage with my whole story.. http://www.angelfire.com/journal2/surgery

I had an umbilical hernia before my RNY. Doctor said it was probably
caused from my two c-sections and the weight gain. He did the RNY, removed
my gallbladder and did the hernia repair all in the same operation.
Frankly, the hernia repair wasn't the one that bothered me. I had more
pain where he did all of the bypassing and stomach cutting. I am now two
weeks post-op and have been off of pain meds for a week. I have a high
pain threshhold, so I may not be a good person to talk to about pain. Good
Luck.
