Question:
Can anyone help me with post op diet issues?
I am 5 months out and have lost over 75 pounds. I have never gotten sick and rarely have diarhea. (Only 3 times.) I am able to eat more quantity than before. I try to weigh/measure when I am home but when I eat out - sometimes 3-4 times a week, I don't always pick the "right" foods. How can I keep myself on track? The nutritionist basically said 4-6 oz. protein a day, 3/4 cup of startch and 3/4 cup of veggies an fruit. I am afraid of screwing this up and yet I can eat more than I think I should be able to. Yesterday, I ate 1 whole slice of pizza for dinner. Id this more than the rest of you eat? Are there any better sources that deal with post-op food issues? Thanks. — Gail A. (posted on July 16, 2001)

Interesting formula. We did something else. We did a basic 60g of protein
in supps (no milk, no sugar), the basic 8 elements in supplement form and
then ate 6 1 oz meals per day. The contents of the meals were not the
focus, just no milk, no sugar. It worked to break my food focus early on,
anyway. I've dropped the 150# long ago and maintained a wt under 115# for
6 yrs now. Today, though, I do 180g of protein supps. I just like it
better.
