Question:
Pain relief and recovery in Panniculectomy Abdominoplasty Surgery
I have lost over 150 lbs and I am scheduled for my Panniculectomy Abdominoplasty Surgery the first week in April '01. I am very anxious and scared and would like to hear from those who had this Plastic Surgery. I have heard much about it being more painful than RNY, especially since I had the LAP, also their is a greater risk for infection and even death. Can someone please share their information and or experience? How long was the recovery period and how long before you can lift even a small child? I would appreciate any and all answers. Thank you!!! — Toni K. (posted on March 29, 2001)

Toni: I had WLS "Fobi Pouch" 12/8/99 my beginning weight was
367 I'm now 159 on 1/2/2001... I had an abdominoplasty with three hernia
repaired and Panni removed. Now to answer your question and keep in mind I
can only answer for myself. The WLS surgery was a walk in the park
compared to this abdominoplasty.. Why? well maybe because after the loss of
over 200 pounds my resistance and nutrition was not what it should have
been to undertake such an invasive surgery this soon from my WLS
surgery.. Most surgeons recommend 2 years and I now see the rational in
that. You can visit my webpage at <a

right now. Don't let the site discourage you because I would still do
it again if I had too..
