Question:
Has anyone had complications when you were self pay, and did your insurance pay ?
I might have to go self pay and I have been quoted a package price that includes everthing, doctor, hospital etc. I am wondering if you develope complications after surgery will your insurance pay for treatment of the complications,ie blood clot, wound infection leak etc.I don't want to have complications and end up owing the hospital lots of money. — Diane F. I was self pay ( quoted a total package) and I had to receive blood, stay
an extra day in the hospital, $2800 over the package I had pre paid. Then I
did get a wound infection, and had to reopen then re close the wound with
surgery $885. This has all been unexpected however I was able to afford it,
but if your a tight budget be aware that these things can happen, and ask
your doctor about these expenses. I still will have to have a hernia repair
in about 6 months and who knows what that'll cost. My insurance didnt coner
WLS, much less these complications.
