Question:
Urine. Has anyone else noticed a very strong odor in their panties? (Sorry to be so gross.)
I am 3 months postop and continue to have an odor that I only notice when I am going to the bathroom. It is rather like a very strong urine smell, and yet is a bit different. I would be embarrassed if I were married or had a boyfriend and they smelled it. If you have heard of this could you please email me and let me know the reasons, and cures? Thanks for your help. — [Anonymous] (posted on September 21, 2000)

It sounds like you may have very concentrated urine. You could be
dehydrated. Are you drinking your 64 ounces everyday? Try increasing your
fluids substantially. Another possibility is a vaginal infection? Have you
been on any antibiotics? If this is the case you need to see your OB/GYN
for the proper treatment. Hope this helps. Sandy RN

Is the urine almost fluorescent yellow? It might be from the vitamins your
taking. What the body can't absorb passes through. Makes urine bright
yellow and smells like multivitamins. If your really concerned, please
check w/ your doctor.

I think it's from all the vitamins and the protein that we are consuming.

You may possibly have a bladder infection. You can have them even without
symptoms.

If you're consuming mostly protein and vitamins, then you're most likely
experiencing ketosis, a strong concentration of ketones in the urine, sweat
and breath. Not a big deal, just drink more water to dilute it and wear a
mini to deoderize your panties

Don't worry! You're burning the blubber!1 (aka "Ketosis!")
and in the words of Martha Stewart...."That's a GOOD thing!!"
Drink more water, and keep plugging along. We're gonna be gorgeous in the
end....Even if we have to smell like a Detroit City bus to get there!!!
HA!
