Question:
Anyone had a revision from jejunostomy to roux-en-Y?
Any problems or side affects? How much weight did you loose? I heard with a revision you do not loose as much weight. I weigh 245 currently. 5ft 3in tall. My surgeon told me that I would loose at least 50 lbs. Maybe more. I want to loose 100 lbs. Please describe your experience with doing a revision. — Robinn L. (posted on June 25, 2005)

hi Robin, I answered your email but it got bounced back to me. I did not
actually have a revision. I had my jib taken down with a bowel obstruction
surgery a year before I had the RNY. I rapidly gained all my weight back
plus more. Almost a year to the day, I had RNY. I weighed 228.6 and am
5'1". I lost down to 109 in about eight months after RNY. I was
feeling bad and was looking bad as well. I have gained back to about
122lbs where I have been for about two months now. so, since I had the
takedown, i don't know if this is what you are looking for or not. My
intestines were put back into their original state minue what was removed
due to my bowel obstruction. When the surgeon did my takedown, there was a
little swifled up part on intestine (that had been bypassed in the JIB. He
said it was really hard to sew back. But it did start functioning right
away. That part was removed during my RNY. The only problem during
surgery I had was i was under for about five or six hours due to scar
tissue. I have had a few minor problems with the RNY but nothing that
relates back to my JIB. As I said, I was put back to my original state. I
sailed right thru the RNY surgery. No N/G or anything except the drain
tube they put in your side. My recovery was a little slow because I hadn't
fully recovered from the take down. I would never had the takedown if it
hadn't been an emergency due to the bowel obstruction. I nearly died.
However, I was having all kinds of problems from the jib and was almost
ready for a wheelchair due to the blind loop syndrome that goes with the
jib. Hope this helps. If you have a valid email address and want to talk
more, I will try to email you. HUgs Delores
