Question:
ARE SUGAR FREE SYRUPS AND SPLENDA OKAY?

Hello, I've been on a DECAF coffee kick lately and I use the sugar free syrups or a few packs of splena to sweeten it and I ualso use coffeemate. I usually drink a whole pot in the morning and sometimes one at night but not always. I also get my 8 glasses of water in daily, but is it bad to have all that splenda every day? will it keep me from losing those last 5-10 pounds? Thanks, Kelly*    — Kelly* P. Depends on the each person. Some people get diarrhea from the sugar free products. I would recommend that you ask a dietician your questions, they are more knowledgable in these matters. My personal opinion is that you need to up your water intake, shoot for at least 64 onces. And even decaf coffee and teas contain a small amount of caffine. My understanding is that you need to have equal amounts of water (for example 24 ounces of caffine) for each equal amount of caffine that you ingest. Caffine will dehydrate your system.

I am doing the same thing. I cannot drink any of the usual things like Crystal Light, etc, and plain water has always been hard for me. I would think liquid is liquid (but obviously caffeine is not good). The important thing is to get enough liquid. I use a lot of splenda and the sugar free syrups with my decaf coffee too. I've never read anything bad about splenda. Since the weather is getting warm, I've started making iced coffee with the splenda and syrups. All I can say is thank goodness for decaf coffee because I would be having a really hard time getting my liquids right now if not for it. I bought an ice shaver yesterday to make snow cones to help with the summer heat.
