Question:
I am in dire need of a revision, I have no insurance is there a dr. out there to help
I have no insurance and need a revision to have my clamp replaced. I weighed 409 pounds 14 years ago. I lost down to 180 pounds and had to have the clamp removed due to it keep collasping. I am back up to 320 pounds. Is there a dr. who would do a charity case due to my health. Please help me. I am from Indiana and am willing to travel for HELP. — Tammy R. (posted on January 19, 2005)

Im not a doctor and cant volunteer nor do I know of one. But until you
hear from one you might also check into medicaid; or if the weight is
affecting your ability to work - vocational rehab.

I am 29 days post-op and had RNY. I live in California and was approved in
twelve days by MediCal. My BMI was 39.1, with several comorbidies. I do
not think that they cover the band surgery, but may I suggest you revise to
RNY. The long term effects have been proven to surpass the Band surgery.
MediCal requires only that you are medically needy. Make sure you find a
good group, with an insurance person that knows what they are doing. I
would just apply for MediCal or Medicaid. You do not need to specify that
you want this surgery, only that you are in need of health insurance.
E-mail me if you need further help.
