Question:
Is it possible to develop dumping syndrome 20 months PO?
I had a tummy tuck/hernia repair the 25th of Oct. since then I seem to get full faster. I have also started to develop what seems like dumping syndrome. I never had this problem before and I am 20 months post op gastic bypass surgery. — beachdog (posted on December 16, 2004)

Absolutely! I only dumped once at about 10 months PO and then not again
until about 15 months PO. It comes down to what you eat. I also found
that after my PS's I wasn't as hungry. Take advantage of it because the
appetite does come back. Along with eating less it would take less sugar
to cause you to dump also. I am 22 months PO now and do not dump often but
every once in a while I get stupid and it happens. Basically I figure I
got what I deserved!

How long after eating sugar? Round about 2 yrs, we start showing the
reactive hypoglycemia. It's a very sudden drop in blood sugar and often
doesn't seem to be related to food or drink or sugar or fat or anything.

How about dumping on the night you are supposed to celebrate your wedding
anniversary? Yup, we went to Dairy Queen and I got a sundae with Nilla
Waffers and banana's and ended up with my face in the toilet and sick as a
dog for 2 hours. I was 2 and a half years post op! I had DQ ice cream
before but not with those things in it. Duh. I haven't had any since then
but I had some sherbet since. It all depends on what you eat. And
sometimes when. I was less hungry after my 2nd surgery too. That has to
do with the repositioning of stuff inside and your body readjusts. You'll
be back to normal before long.

I think at this point many people start pushing a little more and trying
things and taking risks they wouldn't have before. Also , I found I got
more "comfortable" and have more of a problem eating slower, etc,
and if I eat too fast I feel "dumpy"
