Question:
Can I get approval without my file from my doctor?
My doctors original group, that I saw her with, no longer has my file. My doctor also stated that she no longer has my file. They both say they sent my records to the hospital records dept. The hospital records dept. says they don't have any records from my doctor. I have a fax from each of these, basically showing that they say the other person has it. I need to prove my doctor supervised diets to my insurance company. What are the chances that I will be approved. (Due to this not being my fault.) — Pat'sGirl .. (posted on June 2, 2004)

Well today I got my answer. The answer is no you can't get approval from my
insurance. Also the insurance wants the 6 month supervised diet to be
within the last year.

There are state and federal regulations governing the keeping of medical
records. Someone in one of those offices is too lazy to go find out for
sure where your records are. I would familarize myself with the regulations
on medical records and ask each of those offices if you can get your
records or do you need to get a lawyer to get them for you.
