Question:
CAN SUGAR ALCOHOLS CAUSE CRAVINGS?
Hello, I started eating sugear free choclate every once in a while as a treat usually around period time when I really craved something sweet. I would keep 1-2 bars on hand just in case I nedded something. But as time goes by I find myself having them more frequently. My eating has been bad lately, all I want to do is pick and graze. I've been soooo good up to this point and now I feel like I'm falling back into my bad habits. So my question is, can the sugar alcohols in sugar free candy be causing me to crave food and want to pick more? I do not eat many carbs, no bread, pasta, rice or potatoes. Could this sugar free candy be doing me in? Thanks, Kelly*77777777777777777777 — Kelly* P. (posted on February 25, 2004)

Hey Mama, You Must have read my mind I thnk that sugar free sncaks are
doing me in as well because I stay away from carbs as well except for my
once or twice a week splurge for baked cheesy french fries about 12. I
thought I was doing ok with the sugar free food but I believe it is just as
bad as the regular stuff when it comes to cravings-I think they all make
you crave even more-I mean I've been being bad with sugar free treats as
well even though I've been exercising and stuff I still feel like I'm
cheating and that eating sugar free sweets is becoming a downfall-what's a
girl to do because I love sugar free snacks especially since I can't eat
the good stuff.

I totally beleive it fires up cravings. and they are not lower in calories
for the most part than the real thing. I am trying to stay away from all
of it. then there is the gas from the sugar alcohol. YIKES
